C-Suite Conversation: Meg Langan

We were recently joined by Meg Langan, longtime Chief Human Resources Officer to discuss structured approaches to improving Diversion, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within an organization and the retention benefits of customizing professional development for companies' rising stars.

She talks about how an organization should assess its current state, issues, and strategy and then recruit people who can be successful in a specific role. She shares how some of these practices have boosted the success of the business while also boosting diversity within its walls.

At 1:43 Meg explains that companies need to revisit their DEI strategies first by pinpointing issues regarding DEI and employee productivity and engagement. Additionally, companies need to find what constitutes success in a specific role and discover people who could be successful based on their strengths and weaknesses.

At 6:40 Meg discusses why professional development is better when it is customized. Training can be used to build a common culture and an identity within an organization. It’s crucial to figure out the skill set of your employees and leadership. Also, if the employers believe that training is important, then they will encourage employees to participate, leading to more success in the workplace.
